WISH COORDINATOR

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position coordinates wishes and assists Program Services Department in fulfilling the Make-A-Wish® mission. This position reports to the Director of Program Services.

MAJOR RESPOSIBILITIES

  • Under the direction of the Director of Program Services, manages and plans wishes from start to finish as assigned. Develops itineraries for wishes; prepares wish-granting volunteers to meet wish child and family; takes referrals for potential wish kids. Data entry of wish child information.
  • Develops relationships with wish granters to assign appropriate wishes. Manages wish granting volunteers during the wish process, maintains close communication with wish families and medical referral sources to ensure an orderly, magical wish experience for the child. Supports volunteer wish teams, help resolve problems and provide guidance on wish-granting issues.
  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with various statewide companies to secure in-kind donations for wishes.
  • Assists in improving communications with medical community as it relates to securing quality medical referrals. Write articles for Foundation newsletter.
  • Acts as backup receptionist for the Foundation office.  Supports Development Department as needed with special events and performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree required, preferably with a social work or human service background. Previous non-profit or social work experience helpful. Volunteer coordination, fund raising experience and Spanish-speaking also a plus.
  • Self-motivated, multi-tasking team player and detail-oriented professional with excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Ability to manage multiple tasks is essential. Public speaking experience helpful.
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel). Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups essential. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work evening and weekend hours as required.
