BRANDON’S COOL POOLBrandon loves being in the water. Unfortunately, the ten-year-old suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which prevented him from joining his brothers and sisters in their swimming pool. But Brandon refused to let his medical condition keep him from doing what he wanted most, so when he learned he could wish for anything, he chose an above-ground swimming pool that he helped design! "I drew the pool that I wanted," said the Algoma child. "It has a wheelchair ramp. It's heated and has steps that I can sit on inside the pool.” Make-A-Wish volunteers planned a big wish day party, celebrating Brandon’s wish. It was a priceless moment for everyone involved when Brandon entered the water for the first time. “It was like a burden had been lifted,” explains Brandon’s mom Gayle, “and we were just a happy family again.” Brandon says that the most special part of his pool is its liner, which is printed with different fish all over it. “When I swim underwater it looks just like I’m swimming with fish!” To Brandon’s mom, the best part of the pool is the way that it made the entire family feel special and loved. “For one special summer our family was royalty because of the Make-A-Wish Foundation!” Read about Brandon's Wish in the Green Bay Press Gazette Sponsors: William & Sandy Heitz Family Foundation; Culver’s of Darboy
