BACK TO SCHOOL TIME, THANKS TO NATHAN’S WISH!

When Nathan from Green Bay first learned that his medical condition qualified him for a wish from Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Wisconsin, his reaction wasn’t what his family, friends and doctors had expected.

“Nathan originally resisted requesting a wish,” says wish granter Kathy Ledvina. “He didn’t think he was ‘ill enough.’”

The 18-year-old’s attitude changed, however, as he entered his Senior year of high school and started to plan for his future. Because of the effects of his Muscular Dystrophy, Nathan soon realized that he could not hold the same kinds of jobs that his peers did in order to save for college. That realization led him to another—one which eventually helped him decide on his perfect wish.

“Because I will not be able to do any kind of manual labor job in my future,” explains Nathan, “I knew that college was a must for me.” Thanks to the Foundation, Nathan started his freshman year at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh this Fall.

Without the wish for help with tuition, a college education – and the future it represents – might not have been possible for Nathan. “Thank you so much for making my wish come true,” he says. “Thank you with all of my heart.”
