Kelci's love of baseball came to life as she took the field during Spring Training in Arizona. The Milwaukee Brewers welcomed her as part of the team, leaving her with plenty of Major League memories...and a grand slam of hope, strength and joy!
Nine-year-old Kelci has lived her whole life with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects mucous production in the lungs, pancreas, liver and digestive system. There is no cure for the condition, but daily medications, routine breathing treatments and constant vigilance can help manage it.
Kelci and her family keep their minds off of medical troubles with a love of sports. Kelci's wish was to go Spring Training to see the Milwaukee Brewers play, epecially her favorite player, Carlos Gomez. Kelci and her family flew from chilly Wisconsin to sunny Arizona for a few days of pre-season fun at the ballpark.
The Brewers organization rolled out the red carpet for Kelci, giving her a VIP tour of the team's Clubhouse with her very own locker and personalized jersey. Kelci spent time on the field during batting practice, talking to players like Carlos Gomez, Jonathan Lucroy and Scooter Gennett and receiving plenty of team autographs. She even got to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the game (watch it now on our YouTube Channel, youtube.com/MakeAWishWisconsin.)
