“ Now Bryce can just focus on being a Jedi Knight. ”

In April 2014, 8-year-old Bryce, of Cottage Grove, was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Only 200 cases are reported each year. His treatments are grueling and take a lot out of him. He has spent many days at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison receiving chemotherapy, platelets, blood and antibiotics.

When he found out that he would be receiving a wish from Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, Bryce was inspired by his friend Cameron, another wish kid he met at the hospital. He decided his wish was to have a bedroom makeover.

When he found out that he would be receiving a wish from Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, Bryce was inspired by his friend Cameron, another wish kid he met at the hospital. He decided his wish was to have a bedroom makeover.

Make-A-Wish volunteers and staff knew that Bryce loved “Star Wars,” so they kept that in mind as they began designing his new room. Being in the middle of chemotherapy was a struggle for Bryce, but the anticipation of his wish gave him great hope. Bryce had put together a very detailed list of everything he wanted in his new room, and Make-A-Wish didn’t miss a thing.

Bryce came home from the hospital where he had been receiving chemotherapy. He arrived to a surprise celebration of his wish come true. When he opened the door to his new bedroom, Bryce’s face said it all. It was one giant smile from ear to ear that didn’t stop. He explored all of the different facets of his new room and was delighted.

His new room gave Bryce a very special place to rest, recover and to forget about all of the treatments and worries that come with his medical condition. Instead, now he can just focus on being a Jedi Knight.
