Linkin wished to have a camper

“ If there was a memory I could hold onto for the rest of my life, it's when he called for Bigfoot and Bigfoot called back for him. The look on his face when he opened up the camper and saw Bigfoot in there eating marshmallows gives me chills. Everyone there was in awe. ”

- Linkin's Mom Kelly

Linkin is a 5-year-old who's living with a brain tumor. He wished to have a camper so he could look for Bigfoot and share marshmallows with him. Staff and volunteers from Make-A-Wish Wisconsin decided to make Linkin's wish day very special with a surprise guest - Bigfoot. Chewbacca from the 501st Wisconsin Garrison agreed to play the part of "Bigfoot."

On his wish day, Linkin, his family and friends arrived at the Kettle Moraine Forest - Pike Lake Unit, where they were greeted by Ranger Sarah and representatives Jessica and Lena from Maggiano's Little Italy, Linkin's wish sponsors.

Everyone went on a hike and came across enormous footprints crossing the path. Linkin pulled out a magnifying glass from his Bigfoot Investigation kit to take a closer look. He also did Bigfoot calls using a special horn. The hike eventually led them to Linkin's new camper, and inside, sitting on the floor of the camper was "Bigfoot,” played by Chewbacca from the 501st Wisconsin Garrison. Linkin was elated and began feeding him marshmallows right away.

"If there was a memory I could hold onto for the rest of my life, it's when he called for Bigfoot and Bigfoot called back for him," said Linkin’s mom. "The look on his face when he opened up the camper and saw Bigfoot in there eating marshmallows gives me chills. Everyone there was in awe."

Linkin and his family look forward to using their new camper this summer and for many years to come. Linkin will continue to look for other members of Bigfoot’s family along the way, giving him and his family great hope, strength and joy!

It was priceless. The whole experience was rewarding. I couldn't tell he was sick, he was just a normal kid having a blast searching for Bigfoot. ”
