Managing Our Funds

Make-A-Wish Wisconsin finances endeavor through corporate sponsorships, special events, foundation grants and individual contributions. However, we do not solicit funds by telephone and receive no federal or state funding. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, all contributions are deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our financial statements are audited locally by CliftonLarsonAllen LLP.

At Make-A-Wish, we take our responsibility for the monies donated to our cause very seriously and are pleased to confirm that according to the fiscal year 2022 audit results, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin spent 71% of every dollar on wish granting and related program expenses. Only 12% of every dollar was spent on management and general costs and 17% was allocated to fundraising. For full financial details please review our most recent FY23 Audited Financial Statement, FY22 Annual Report or our latest 990.

We are proud to be a 4-star charity, rated by Charity Navigator and a BBB Wisconsin Accredited Charity Seal Holder, having met all 20 BBB Standards for Charity Accountability. And we are a two-time recipient of the Wisconisn BBB Torch Award for Ethics.

Celebrating 40 Years of Wishes

Make-A-Wish Wisconsin is excited to be celebrating its 40th birthday throughout this year. There are a lot of opportunities to be a part of the celebration and to continue helping grant wishes for kids battling critical illnesses. In fact, we are budgeted to grant 405 wishes this year, more wishes than we’ve ever granted before.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

At Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, we know a wish unites neighbors, friends and entire communities in life-changing experiences, no matter their background. We understand that, to grant the wish of every eligible child, we must foster an environment that is diverse, inclusive, and equitable.

We are committed to representation and acceptance, creating a sense of belonging and equality for all wish families, volunteers, donors, supporters, board, and staff. We stand against racism, violence and intolerance and aim to be inclusive of and welcoming to all people and backgrounds.

Together, we work to build an inclusive culture that encourages and celebrates diverse voices and experiences. It is through the mosaic of different cultures, perspectives, and experiences that we can grant life-changing wishes to every eligible child.
